Abstract
Analysis of selected elements of work and professional situation of nursing staff in long-term care

Aim:
The aim of the study was to analyze selected elements of the work and professional situation of nursing staff working in long-term care.
Material and methods:
The conducted study used the diagnostic survey method using the survey technique - the author's questionnaire consisted of 12 questions. The survey was voluntary and anonymous, completed via a shared link among closed professional groups for long-term care nurses. The study included 102 nurses working in long-term stationary and home care in facilities located in the eastern part of the Mazovian Voivodeship.
Results:
The most common activities performed by nursing staff in both inpatient and home care were measurements and their interpretation (82.4%), activating the patient (78.4%) and educating the patient and his family (68.6%). Age, place of residence and education did not affect the workload of staff, but family support had a statistically significant impact on this element (p=0.001). The more often the family was involved in helping the patient, the less workload the nurses had. Education and place of residence had a statistically significant impact on job satisfaction among nurses working in long-term care (p=0.025 and p=0.001).
Conclusions:
1. Education and place of residence influence the feeling of higher job satisfaction among nurses working in stationary and home care. 2. Family support and assistance play an important role in the work of nursing staff in long-term care.
