Blistering of the epidermis is called butterfly skin (from the Latin epidermolysis bullosa – EB). The disease is a genetically determined rare dermatosis of the skin. The aim of the study was to determine the care problems of a newborn with vesicular separation of the epidermis using the example of a case study. The study involved a newborn who had skin lesions on both feet, right hand, and left leg, single blisters under the armpits, on the buttocks, smaller on the face, and cracked and dried on the scalp. There were epidermal lesions from ruptured bladders within the oral cavity and labia. Multidirectional actions allowed the most important care problems of the newborn with EB to be solved, alleviating his suffering. In the nursing care of patients with EB, professionalism and treatment in accordance with current medical knowledge are invaluable, especially in the field of wound care and infection prevention.
