The aim of this article is to define the scope of nursing care for patients after classic and laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Cholecystectomy is one of the most frequently performed gastroenterological surgery procedures both in Poland and throughout the world. It is a method of treatment for symptomatic and chronic, non-symptomatic cholelithiasis. Nurses play an important role in the process of perioperative care, and their actions significantly influence the effect of patients’ hospitalization. It is very important to introduce appropriate, holistic nursing care, which is a kind of guarantee of proper convalescence, ensuring the best possible level of the patient’s quality of life.
