Abstract
Introduction
A common spine disease is a degenerative change of the intervertebral discs.
Aim
The aim of the work was to analyze the nurse’s tasks in caring for the patient who had his/her degenerated disc removed and after intervertebral stabilization.
Case
In the presented case, the patient is in the course of surgical treatment of discopathy in the cervical spine.
Conclusions
1. Care problems in a patient with degenerative changes of the cervical spine right after the surgery: po-stoperative pain, nausea and vomiting, risk of cardiopulmonary complications, risk of body hypoxia, risk of infection of the surgical wound, risk of infection at the injection site, risk of infection in the urinary system, deficit in self-service activities.
2. Nurse’s tasks in caring for a patient with degenerative changes of the cervical spine in the post-operation day: monitoring of pain intensity and participation in pain therapy, active participation in talking water and electrolyte disorders, ensuring optimal lung ventilation, implementation of activities in the prevention of postoperative complications, implementation of basic care activities.
