This article examines the role of robots and algorithms as potential responses to the growing workforce shortages in the labor market. It explores whether advancing automation can provide a genuine solution to structural problems related to labor shortages or whether it remains an illusion rooted in social expectations toward new technologies. Particular attention is given to the social perception of automation processes, the factors influencing the acceptance of technological solutions, and the potential consequences for human–technology relations, with special emphasis on the nurse–technology relationship. The article contributes to research on the social impacts of digital transformation, its influence on the labor market, and its implications for the development plans of advanced nursing practice in Poland.
